It is with a heavy heart and a profound sense of loss that I am finally able to put pen to paper today to bid farewell to a great man. You were a friend, a brother and an uncle as well as a great source of inspiration to all who came your way. You stood by us when we lost our husband and father and your friend, Richard Kanayo Okonkwo. The kindness and love you showed, always left us feeling warm and secure. Our consolation is that you lived to see Zankli grow from a small beginning to where it is today and witnessed the transition of your boys to men with their own families. I pray for God to consider the good life you lived on earth and accept your soul in Paradise and grant Funke, your beloved wife and the entire family the fortitude to bear this great loss and carry on with your legacy. Rest in Peace.

Uncle Lovett, I wish I told you when you were with us, how much I loved you first and secondly, I love you for loving my mother Da Christie unconditionally. Her face always lit up at the mention of your name. Lovett is in town, Lovett is coming, Lovett this, Lovett that and on and on .......
You loved and cared for “Family” not just your immediate family, but extended and more extended families. You regarded everyone highly and displayed so much warmth and love to all. You did not discriminate. Everyone has a good word and good thing to say about you—A PRICELESS GIFT.
You were a quiet giver, silently solving issues and making so much impact. A philanthropist and God fearing, Knight of the Methodist Church. You had all the excellent qualities and values of a well-bred, perfect, handsome gentleman. These are replicated in your 3 lovely sons, Rotimi, Femi, & Tope. They will be fine and surpass your expectations. Your dear wife, my sister, Funke, will also be fine. We will take care of her and try as much as possible that her sense of loss at these times will be bearable, God being her helper supporter and strength. She will be blessed beyond measure to ensure that all the legacies you left behind will flourish and thrive in Jesus mighty name!
You are unforgettable & irreplaceable.
God rest your loving soul as the angels are dancing to receive your sweet soul.
I am sure Fo Luther and Manka are waiting to have their Crown Prince in their arms. You lived well, you ran an excellent race and left behind great footprints in the medical profession and did your utmost best serving humanity and God.
Sun re o egbomi atata. You will be sorely missed!!!

Hi Uncle,
I've written and then rewritten this tribute so many times as words cannot honestly not explain what you mean to me. I just want to start by saying thank you for being an amazing Uncle to me, as well as as brother and brother-in-law to my Mum & Dad. As the first child, you always looked after Grandma and Grandpa and I know they were always so proud to call you their son. We are all proud of your amazing achievements in the medical field and in the Methodist church, but also the fact that you brought joy and unity to the family. You indeed lived a great life, and most importantly a God fearing life.
Your legacy will indeed continue to live on. I pray for strength for Aunty Funke, Rotimi & Family, `Femi & Family and Tope & Family. Psalm 30:5 says 'weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning', and I pray God turns the mourning into dancing, because you have lived an amazing life worth celebrating.
Rest well Uncle, you will be missed.

Today is a bit emotional for me as I bid farewell to Prof. Lovett Lawson. I recall sometimes in 1999 when I started attending Zankli Hospital with respect to my medical needs and the excellent service I received. I have remained there ever since. It used to be a bit confusing for me when I was asked which Dr. Lawson do you want to see until I realised that Dr. Lawson and his wife ran the hospital. Fast forward to 2002 when I had to rush my six (6) weeks daughter to Zankli hospital and again the prompt intervention of Dr. (Mrs.) Lawson averted a major disaster. I can testify to Prof Lawson's caring and empathetic attitude that by the time you finish consulting with him at the hospital you ask yourself was I really ill. He will take his time to explain to you and assure you that you will fine. Coincidentally, we attend the same church and are ardent members of the 7:30a.m. and indeed we all have been blessed by his family's generosity both financial and in kind. My daughter has on several occasions benefited from the benevolence of Zankli hospital and we are forever grateful. One think I can say is that Prof Lawson is the same person both in the Hospital and the Church, a man of faith., empathetic, caring and kind.
I am sad that you are gone Sir but I believe earth's loss is heaven's gain. You have gone to be an angel over your family and your legacy lives on. I pray for the comfort of the Holy Spirit over your family, friends, medical and church communities. You will be sorely missed. Rest in the perfect peace with the Lord Sir Prof. Lovett Lawson.

I have been in shock and had been short on words to express the feeling of loss from the exit of this great man. Prof. Lawson was my employer, senior colleague, yet a friend and indeed a man with a good heart. He encouraged me in writing papers and made our 3 years, 8 months stay at Zankli Medical Centre worth the while even when my intention was to get into the public service within a 2 year span.
May God grant you a peaceful repose in his Kingdom, and to his lovely family; especially his dear wife Dr. Juliana Lawson the strength to live through this and the assurance that Prof. Lawson has run a worthy race. Adieu Prof.

Exit of a Colossus.
I still find it hard to believe that I have lost a role model and a loving father. A success in every facet of life. This comes at a time when both Nigeria and the International community needed you the most.
Words are not enough to express my gratitude for the positive and monumental impact you had early in my career which has helped shape me.
I miss you and that radiant smile Sir.
I pray God speedily heals the pain of this irreparable loss in all our hearts.
Rest in the bosom of the Lord, Prof.; till we meet again to part no more.
Amen!

This still feels like a bad dream to be honest. I can’t believe it was in October when we would last see and talk. That day, I forgave you for missing my wedding and I’m so happy you got to meet him. My favourite memory of you is the day of Femi’s engagement in Lagos when you were instructing us who is next in the make up queue. Thank you for always taking the time to entertain us no matter how trivial the conversations could have been. Thank you for reminding us of the importance of family and each other. I love you lots and Rest well. X
